Air Sahara leases two Boeing 737-700NG aircraft
October 2002

Air Sahara, in July and September 2002, took delivery of two Boeing 737-700NG aircraft, msn 28090 and msn 28091, from Bavaria International Aircraft Leasing under separate aircraft lease agreements signed in June 2002. The privately owned airline, headquartered in New Delhi, India, belongs to the Sahara India Pariwar Group, one of the largest infrastructure and housing companies in India. The group is also expanding its services in the areas of mass communication and consumer products. Today, Air Sahara operates 10 Boeing 737-700NGs and Boeing 737-Classics. The incorporation of the New Generation 737-700 aircraft is part of the airline’s plan to increase the number of aircraft to 45 within the next two years, making it the largest privately owned airline in India. The agreements, which feature a term of 5 years plus an extension option, allow Bavaria International Aircraft Leasing to further expand its customer base in a market environment still impacted by the events of 9-11.
