Australia’s Impulse Airlines has entered into a commercial agreement with Qantas Airways
May 2001
Impulse Airlines has three Boeing 717-200 aircraft on lease from Bavaria International Aircraft Leasing since June 2000 when it started competing on domestic trunc routes with Qantas and Ansett Australia. The take over by Qantas was the result of an institutional investor withdrawing its backing from the company on May 1, 2001 when Qantas agreed to provide funds for working capital to enable Impulse Airlines to buy back its shares from the respective institutional investor.
Impulse will stop flying scheduled services of its own and its eight Boeing 717-200 and 13 Raytheon Beech 1900Ds will fly in Qantas colours as of the end of May 2001.
